Name: Ann Harmon on Aug 30, 2002State: NVCountry: USComments: Present TRPA staff recommendations to protect scenic beauty are totally reasonable. Rely on the Compact and the Code; these are your legal mandates, and describe what you MUST do. Don't continue to be threatened by developers/real estate interests. They can only be a threat if you appear to be influenced by special interests.Flag

Name: David Roberts on Aug 30, 2002State: CACountry: DZComments: Lake Tahoe has suffered far too much commercial and residential development over the lasst century. Now wealthy interests want to make this natural gem their private trophy. Stand up up to the monied interests and protect what is left of the scenic and environmental beauty of Lake Tahoe.Flag

Name: Lindsay Yeazell on Aug 30, 2002State: NVCountry: USComments: 1. TRPA must adhere to the agreed compact (and encompassing law) to meet the thresholds. 2. The homeowners represent only a very small minority of the people who live and visit the Tahoe Area, but they have the monetary wherewithall to publicize their viewpoint. 3. I know of few people who visit Lake Tahoe to view the large and prominent homes on the area. 4. The proposed changes will not require people to plant trees in front of their windows and block their views. 5. Equating the homes on the Lake with historic monuments like Mt. Vernon is ludicrous. Those homes in those days had to be prominent to be seen by river traffic delivering goods. (They didn't have street addresses at the time.) It may be noted that the rivers flowing by these stately homes are now so pollutted they are a threat to wildlife and people. 5. Lake Tahoe is not an area that should be urbanized by overbuilding, but when at all possible the homes should not become so visible as to not be in harmony with the surrounding land.Flag

Name: Kenneth W. Green on Aug 30, 2002State: CACountry: USComments: As a Sacramento resident I am a frequent visitor to the lake Tahoe basin, for both summer and winter recreation. I do not want to see the scenic shoreline "improved" (as the development interests like to portray it) by intrusive, high-visibility projects along the shoreline. Please affirm your committment to your present policy.Flag

Name: Gary Gervin on Aug 31, 2002State: CACountry: USComments: The lake belongs to all of us. I believe that if the few who oppose these stricter regulations win out, Lake Tahoe and its surrounding environs will be permanently damaged. In the long run, I think even those who oppose the regulations will lose if that happens. Please take the broader view, and protect the lake.Flag

Name: Barbara Rivenes on Aug 31, 2002State: CACountry: USComments: Lake Tahoe is an international treasure from both the scenic and ecological point of view. The lake should be given the most stringent protections including restrictions on the visual blight of high profile structures along the shoreline. I applaud the Governing Board of TRPA in recoginizing the need for protection from inappropriate development. I live within 1 hour's drive of Lake Tahoe and bring many visitors there to experience its scenic qualities. The environs should continue to be marred by out-of-scale and jarring artifacts.Flag
