Comments: It is silly to think only in terms of today's jobs. If there is no tomorrow, what the heck will these people do then We need to protect the future for ourselves. We can't do that if Kyoto fails. There really won't be much of a future.

Comments: Lets face it, the rest of the planet is going for this. Either we wake up and design/ develop for the new market, and sell technologies/ products to the rest of the world, or we pay them for it when we finally pull our head out of the sand. ...oil sand There is an enormous opportunity here if we approach it as such and you can be assured that other economies on this planet are. Think about it, for example, could there be a better way to maintain an ambient temperature of 72

Comments: Like any shift in cultural or economic priorities, the Kyoto protocol may indeed cause the loss of certain kinds of jobs. However, I believe the new economic landscape created by the Kyoto protocol would also create new kinds of jobs and opportunities that never existed before. This is a pattern that has been proven by numerous advances in technology and economy. The Information Technology industry is only one of the more recent examples.

Comments: Canada has enough intelligent citizens to make this agreement work to the nation's advantage (i.e capitalize off of it) if there were enough government support to create as many jobs in the environmental market as are lost in the petroleum industry.
