Helmets laws are needed in British Columbia for skiers and snowboarders. According to the Canadian Institute for Health Information's latest figures, which do not include data from Quebec, 138 people were hospitalized across Canada in 2005-2006 because of a head injury sustained while skiing or snowboarding (CBC, 2009).These type of injuries can be devestating for the victims and their families, as well as, costly for the healthcare system.
