Comments: it's anti-competitive. it ALREADY [before it begins] has issues with conflict of interest. Kosher labelling is NOT 'black and white' - there are shades of gray which are unlikely to be acceptable to an organisation that has to cater to extreme right wing views.

Comments: there are just far too many aspects to kosher certification to allow just one body to provide certification...ie what is ok for one follower of kosher may differ from the opinion of another...leave kosher certification to market forces

Comments: a. It is unreasonable and intolerable that the ECAJ’s proposed “designated body representing the religious Jewish leadership” be empowered to disallow such a product from bearing “the word "kosher"”. b. It is unreasonable and intolerable that the ECAJ’s proposed “designated body representing the religious Jewish leadership” be empowered to disqualify a rabbi from certifying foods that the Chief Rabbi of Israel determines are Kosher. c. It is ridiculous, unreasonable and intolerable, that a rabbi who is approved by the Chief Rabbi of Israel, for example, a. can be banned from providing Kosher certification in Australia; b. that foods he certifies will be approved as Kosher in Israel, the USA, South Africa and Europe but not in Australia. d. By way of illustration; one of the two most highly regarded rabbis of the world today, Rabbi Elyashiv, (wiki???) has clearly stated in a recoded ruling, that lactose is not deemed to be a dairy product for the purposes of the Laws of Kosher. Nevertheless, the ORA rabbis do consider it to be a dairy product and will be empowered to disqualify any Australian rabbi who wishes to rely upon the ruling of one of Jewry’s greatest contemporary sages.

Comments: Doesn't add any value to the Jewish community and will more likely lead to a less competitive kosher product offering further increasing already inflated prices.
