As residents of Seward Park and the Lower East Side, we urge the Board of Directors to bring in a Kosher restaurant as a commercial tenant of the Seward Park Co-op. A Kosher meat restaurant is vitally important to observant Jewish communities such as this one since it serves as a place for community to gather and socialize around food, and also acts as a cultural center that needs our support to continue to thrive in a growing neighborhood. A Kosher restaurant will dramatically improve the quality of life for Kosher observing residents, but will also draw patrons from the many diverse populations of the Lower East Side. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Further, there are many elderly Seward Park residents who are unable to walk a long distance, having a kosher restaurant will enable them to have a fresh meal every day.

Diversity is an important part of why we love the Lower East Side and we encourage the board of Seward Park to help maintain culinary diversity in the neighborhood by bringing a new Kosher restaurant to Seward Park Co-op.

Thank you.

We are approaching the one thousand signature mark and need to hit this milestone before we present our demand to the Board. Text this link to three neighbors who live in the Co-op and post the petition to your private local Facebook groups right now.

We need to hit the one hundred signature mark to prove our residents demand this space. Pull up the link and text it to three neighbors right now. Tell them why having a local kosher spot matters.

This is important in a practical way for observant Jews, and also important for the cultural interest of our neighborhood. Many tour groups travel to the Lower East Side as a living history lesson. A kosher restaurant is critical to maintaining our unique identity.

I look forward to seeing the Glatt Kosher restaurant in the neighborhood. There are senior citizens on the Lower East Side that do not cook often and would greatly benefit from the restaurant. ALL THE BEST.

Kosher meat had an appeal to anyone who desires quality food. Although observant residents require this offering near our homes, the appeal is not limited to the Jewish community. Please consider this application favorably.

I would love to have a kosher restaurant in the neighborhood, we lost the kosher pizza store, the kosher bakery and the kosher meat restaruant all in a short time, there are hardly any kosher establishments left on the lower east side.

A kosher restaurant is a necessity rather than luxury for Seward Park. My family lives there. I visit frequently and enjoy dining out. Please bring this vital business to Seward Park which will improve the economy as well as social fabric of the community. Thank you.

The only way a kosher restaurant can survive in this neighborhood these days is to appeal to a broad clientele. A kosher deli will never compete with Katz's. The restaurant that will survive is a restaurant that has broad appeal, but is mamash kosher. Good luck to whomever is trying to serve our community.
