Polegate Town FC support KORGI (Keep Our Recreation Ground Intact) The "War Memorial Recreation Ground" in Wannock Road, Polegate is the home ground of Polegate Town Football Club and Polegate & Stone Cross Cricket Club and was given to the local council in Trust in 1926 to commemorate the fallen of the great war. A covenant states that "NO buildings unless for recreational purposes should be erected". There is a proposal to build a combined Doctors Surgery and Apollo Medical Centre on this ground. This will require Polegate Town council to sell some of the land left in their trust to the developers. The Wannock Road War Memorial Ground is the only proper Football, Cricket and Stoolball facility in the Town. If any building is allowed it will also restrict the areas where casual sport and leisure pursuits can be carried out by families and their children. If any part of this land is sold, not only will the current pursuits be adversely effected but there could be further developments and subsequently the loss of the only true green space in the Town. Therefore having read the above information "I, the undersigned, do not want Polegate Town Council to sell any part of the WAR MEMORIAL RECREATION GROUND, nor for any building althere to be used for non recreational purposes".
