Dear Ms. Westberry:

We are writing this letter to express our concern and disappointment
that the national Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation has decided
to end funding for lifesaving education, outreach and breast cancer
exams in partnership with Planned Parenthood. We, as residents of the
South Florida region, know of your longstanding commitment to work hand in hand with our local Planned Parenthood chapter to assure the women in
our community have access to critical breast health services. We urge
the South Florida Komen affiliate to reconsider and recommit to this
partnership with Planned Parenthood for our women locally.

Planned Parenthood and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation
share an important goal – advancing women’s health. To that end, we
believe that politics should never get in the way of women’s health
care—whether it’s birth control access or breast cancer screenings.
Regrettably, the real victims of this decision are the thousands of
women who live in South Florida’s neediest communities and most rely
on Planned Parenthood and the Komen Foundation working together for
these lifesaving services.

We’ve read in the news that Komen chapters across the country are
standing with Planned Parenthood to put education and health care
first, recognizing that politics has no place in the mission of saving
women’s lives. We appeal to you to join in opposition to this recent
and tragic national Komen policy to defund Planned Parenthood. We, the
men and women of South Florida women, stand with you, cheering your
local leadership for your continued partnership with Planned
Parenthood.  Think Pink and remember that Women’s Lives Matter.  Take
a stand and we’ll stand with you!
