As Americans, we should be honored at the thought of those who have fought, are fighting and will be fighting for our freedom. History is a class that is required in high school as well as 1 or 2 history classes in college. History should also be defined as the events that have brought us this far. The men and women that have fought for our freedom are not recognized nearly enough. In Knox County, school is dismissed for the summer before Memorial Day, so why not make Veterans Day a holiday so our future of America can attend some of the Veterans Day parades without being considered absent so that they may  honor those that have made it possible for the children to follow in their footsteps. November 11th should be declared a holiday for Knox County Students, and if it falls on a weekend, lets honor our Veterans by observing the holiday that following Monday.
