بِسْمِ ٱللّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Praise be to Allah. We worship Him alone, offering Him sincere devotion; we praise Him, repent to Him, and seek His forgiveness. Allah says in the Quran “يا أيها الذين امنوا اتقوا الله وقولوا قولا سديدا يصلح لكم أعمالكم ويغفر لكم ذنوبكم ومن يطع الله ورسوله فقد فاز فوزا عظيما” which can be translated as “O you who believe! Keep your duty to Allah and fear Him, and speak (always) the Truth, He will direct you to do righteous good deeds and will forgive you your sins. And whosoever obeys Allah and His messenger, he has indeed achieved a great success”. The prophet (صلّى الله عليه وسلّم) lays down a fundamental principle in Islam to maintain a healthy and dynamic society "If one of you sees something wrong, let him change it with his hand; if he cannot, then with his tongue; if he cannot, then with his heart and this is the weakest faith." It is therefore a primary duty of muslims to speak up against mismanagement and to continuously reform themselves and their society at large.

Over the past few months, a group of parents at Knowledge Academy have had growing concerns about school’s instability, staff retention, poor academics, and mismanagement of funds including tuition and donations. As a result, a task force was formed, on behalf of several parents, consisting of Dr. Fahd Albinali and Dr. Hussein Babsil to open an inquiry with the school’s Board about (1) organizational structure and decision making processes, (2) compliance with the school’s Bylaws and whether the Bylaws provide sufficient checks and balances and are consistent with Islam, (3) performance of staff including the principal and teachers, and (4) allocation of funds and financial oversight of school operations. The results of this inquiry as well as a plan for reform are presented in this motion to the Board of Directors for immediate review and consideration.
