With respect to the property development along Council Street NE, I am in favor of the current Future Land Use Map of the City of Cedar Rapids. I am against Jim Sattler\'s plan to change the density designation on this property from Low Density Residential to Medium Density Residential as stated in his letter to the City of Cedar Rapids.

Lisa Petersen, United States7 years ago Comments: The City Planning Commission and City Council should not approve the requested change in the Land Use Plan from low density residential to medium density residential as requested. Existing homes to the west, north, and east of the proposed land use change are all single family owner occupied homes that will be negatively impacted by this requested land use change. While the land use change is for medium density, it is well known the request is intended for manufactured home overlay district, which is not compatible with the nearby single family developements. The Summerfield Addition(low density residential), immediately to the east of this request, has streets platted to the west edge of the property with the intent to extend those streets into compatible low density residential development. There are existing homes at higher elevations that cannot be buffered or screened from the proposed medium density residential land use change. This proposed medium density land use is located far from existing transit routes and will not have a reasonable expectation to be served by transit. All of the home owners in the area purchased our properties partly based on the city's projected long term low density usage as shown in the current plan. I did not expect that the city would allow the land use map to be changed at the expense of the surrounding single family owner occupied homes.
