| 301 | D Anderson | I find it so hard to believe that this road would remain closed and left to the exclusive use of just a few residents. It's such a wonderful passageway from Woodley Park to Mount Pleasant, compared to the traffic nightmare trying to get up or down Connecticut Avenue to/from Porter Street during morning and evening rush hours. This road was part of the plan of a web of roads in Rock Creek Park, and thus should be maintained. There already are many, many acres of woodland and trails for hikers and bikers, but no good choices for those of us who cannot walk or ride a bike across the park from Woodley Park PLEASE re-open this critical road! |

| 303 | Anonymous | This road is an integral connection between the east and west sides of the park. Please repair this road! |
| 304 | Faith Jarmon | I haven't used Klingle Road in years, but that's because it's been closed for so long. Now that I have moved to Columbia Heights, my commute to upper Georgetown causes me to drive much further north or south than need be because of this road closure.
With all the development going on on Georgia Avenue and Columbia Heights, I'm sure there will be many more cars on the road between these two areas. The opening of the new Target is a prime example of a greater interest in the Columbia Heights neighborhood and Rock Creek Park being a major conduit. Traffic on Park Road and Porter Street will get tremendously congested.
My preference would be for both Klingle Road to re-open in addition to better public transportation across Rock Creek Park in this area (crossing southwest/northeast).
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Faith Jarmon |
| 305 | Barbara Ioanes | The 2100 and 2200 blocks of Cathedral Ave.have also affected by the lack of repairs on Klingle. Klingle Road goes under Connecticut and its users still need to get across the park, by using Porter, Calvert, and Cathedral; they are not biking their way to their destinations. |

| 307 | Wallace Dickson | As a resident of Adams Morgan with an office in Cleveland Park, and as a life-long Washington, DC, resident, I strongly urge the reconstitution of Klingle Road as an essential thoroughfare. |
| 308 | Robert D. Barry, Ph.D. and Mary L. Barry | Restore Klingle Road to its original purpose. Rock Creek Park has an abundance of green space, and the Klingle Road area is a small parcel of park land that was meant to provide an additional vehicular avenue and help bridge the east-west parts of the City. Of course Klingle Road residents want to make this a part of their backyard, with the faux argument that this would be green space for all. Excuse me, but as a nature lover, who runs extensively in Rock Creek Park three times a week, there is more than enough green area to satisfy any reasonable desire for a natural environment. Those who want Klingle Road closed to traffic are engaged in a selfish land grab or are environmental absolutists, sacrificing the justifiable needs of the community. |
| 309 | Katharine MacKaye | As a bicycle commuter who does not own a car and who crosses Rock Creek Park most days of the week, I beg of you to re-open this road with a bike lane. There is no way I would use a bike/pedestrian trail at night. In fact, in this city I would be unlikely to use a bike/pedestrian trail alone during the day if, as would be the situation in this case, it was isolated and little used. |

| 311 | Anonymous | It's a road that will alleviate traffic on Porter. It is not a park. |

| 313 | Jacqueline A. Holt | I am appalled at the failure of transparency is keeping Klingle Road closed. I traveled that route every day taking my daughter to the pool at St. Alban's. I also shopped frequently along Wisconsin Avenue at the Giant, CVS. In addition, I drove to her school in a car pool and traveled the route three times a week going and coming as well as driving to work in the store I owned on Wisconsin where in the eighties, the traffic on Wisconsin sat bumper-to-bumper. To deny access to those who live east of the park for the benefit of a few, mostly well-to-do is entirely elitist....not that any of them could care. I do recall those units being built on the top of the hill. How lucky to have your own walking trail when the rest of us have some access to the trails in Rock Creek Park. Is it too much to ask that they do the same????
The road was in bad shape but it was good enough to get across town. |

| 325 | Jacqueline Jackson | It is the responsibility of DC city officials to make decisions that benefit the majority of the citizens. Repairing Klingle Road is just such a decision. |

| 327 | D. Michael Daly | Currently the area is an eyesore, and if the road is closed then the land reverts away from the district. Lets fix up the area to better then it was and open it up for all to use. |

| 329 | Leslie Blakey | It is outrageous that we are losing this valuable route at a time when traffic and congestion are increasing all over town. There is no reason a well engineered road could not also accomodate bikes and pedestrians. David Catania was right, but he voted the wrong way; it is time to put this thing to rest. If we can give federally subsidized Ford's Theater $10 M taxpayers' dollars, we should be able to repair this road and really put this thing to rest to the benfit of the public, not just a special few. |

| 331 | Anne Theisen | Right now, Porter Tilden Streets are the only routes for those in Columbia Heights to use to get to points west without having to go up to Military Road or down to Q Street. The result is that there is incredible congestion on these two roads, especially during the morning rush hour. The resulting crush of idling cars on these two streets result in the creation of so much green house gas that it cannot possibly be offset by the environmental benefits of keeping Klingle Road closed. I used to use Klingle Road every day before it was closed. If it were re-opened, I would probably use it every day again. |
| 332 | Steven J Newman | Please open this road as I have driven it many times in the past. Eric |
| 333 | Joan Gordon | Repair and open the road NOW! |
| 334 | Tom Bell | I love Rock Creek. I often bike to work. When I drive, however, I get stuck in idling traffic both coming and going when I cross Connecticut on Porter. Aggravating this choke point is not green, whatever people sayh. |

| 341 | Bill Duggan | I am a resident of ward 4 and live in the 1600 block of Longfellow St. Prior to the closing of Klingle Rd my family and I found it to be an invaluable `crosstown route. We have also, since it's closure, seen the resulting traffic jams and felt the accompnying auto polution created by these traffic jams at the intersection of Conn and Porter. The closure is especially inconvenient for residents east of the park, but all references by councilmembers have referenced their deferrence to the ward 3, west of the park representative....and why is this? |
