John CooneyDon't block rightful East-West accessibility and commerce for all in order to benefit the few.

Margaret GoodmanOur oldest neighbor told of using Klingle Road before Porter Street went through! Let's get it back.

Lorie LeavyI've lived in Washington long enough to remember what a convenient connector Klingle Road was between my neighborhood (Tenleytown) and points east. I myself used it rather often. But I also remember how lovely it was to drive down into that valley with the car windows open, feeling the temperature drop and hearing the birds sing. Yes, birds *do* sing in the presence of automobiles, and yes, drivers *do* enjoy (and perhaps even deserve) an occasional encounter with nature during our urban rounds. No one else seems to have brought up this point--that Klingle Valley was a very nice place to drive through. If that road stays closed, I feel certain that many fewer people will be able to enjoy its charms.
Robert K. WilsonReopening this road to autos in some capacity is a no brainer. I question how many of the people against this have done research to understand what they are against...
Casimir BonkowskiI regret the short sightedness of councilmembers who have voted to close one of the few east-west access ways in DC. I am a Mount Pleasant resident who regularly walks my dog in Rock Creek Park and have never felt that I was deprived of green space because of Klingle Road. Just give me another cross town route to Wisconsin Ave>.
Maureen NelsonObservation of due process resulted in a decision to repair and reopen Klingle Road. Now that is being disregarded merely because there are new members of the DC Council. Surely Ms. Cheh, as a constitutional law scholar, appreciates the significance of res judicata. Besides, if the road isn't repaired, ownership reverts to the original donor. Repair and reopen the road!
AnonymousPlease do not listen to a small, wealthy minority. Of course people on the street would prefer to have Klingle Road closed, but many other residents would also love to have the street where they live closed to traffic. It is an important way to get across town, and I would love to see it open again.

Thomas JenningsJust what would happen if one of those isolationists has a house fire? Fire trucks are vehicles. It goes way beyond that point, but that point alone should be enough to have the road open. Otherwise, raze all the houses down there.

AnonymousOnce a road, always a road. Those who want to ride bicycles will ride them where ever regardless. The road is not being used and could be access to possible residential development. Those who want to restrict its use should just get over it!

ralph martinThe quality of transportation in the area was much better when this public road was used for it's dedicated purpose. The alternative is the junkie-infested rat-trap it is now.

Marina MeehanI lived in that area years ago, when the road was opened. It's a very convenient way to go through the park, yet it had never generated too much traffic. I could never figure out why was is closed on the first place.

Margaret T. McLaughlinI'd like my street to be a park, too, instead of a through street and firetruck route. But citizens need streets and roads to get where they need to go to and to continue to keep our economy going. Klingle is no more special than any other street and should receive no special treatment just because it could not be repaired for a number of years.

steven gilbertThis silliness has gone on long enough. It is time to put the good of the majority ahead of the selfishness of a few.

Robert GordonIt's a shame the DC Council has voted to keep Klingle Road closed. A few people will benefit and many will lose. The Council caved to a few residents and joggers. The price for the rest of us is greater travel time.

AnonymousThis road should be open to automobile traffic. It is a great inconvience to me for it to be closed. Prior to its closure, I used it several times a week.
Johannes belangerThis road closing affects many of us in the city crossing town as well as forcing us to use porter st. wasting gas and slowing down cross town traffic. I guess some people are just more equal.
W. ReynoldsThe trade off between opening 7/10 of a mile, with no negative environmental impact in return for congestion relief is self evident.
David Cox
joseph bresslerThe only true reason for not opening the road is pandering to special interests. Instead of car exhaust exposure to those living on the closed street, residents, like myself, living on Porter St., have witnessed a dramatic increase in traffic since we moved in more than 20 yrs ago. I am a Professor of Environmental Health at the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins and know without any doubt that only a handful of city residents are benefiting from the closure of Kingle Road. This is truly a travesty that will have major repercussions in the next elections.
Bruce McGeeOpen Klingle road to automobile traffic.
Maureen CarrollI can't believe that we must once again fight over this issue! Will it never end? The road needs to be re-opened!
