Name: Grant Mounce on May 6, 2009Comments: One has to ask if the benefit will out-weigh the risks Are you willing to accept the additional risk to the kiteboarder as a result of wearing a PFD Is the next step to make all surfers and swimmers wear PFDs as well Please do some reasearch on the sport of kiteboarding before putting this legislation into affect.Flag

Name: Gavin on May 7, 2009Comments: Arguable a PFD would make self rescue through up wind body draggin more difficult. If a kiter is stuck in the water his best bet, even with a PFD would be to wind his lines and lay on his kite which would easily float himFlag

Name: Sep Beigi on May 7, 2009Comments: PFDs will only make kiteboarding unsafe in many emergency situations. Quick release systems are not designed to work with such equipment, and would be impeded by the vest itself. The limited range of motion would also present difficulties in remaining upwind and away from others in a safe location, overall riding, and body dragging upwind to recover a lost board in order to ride back to the beach. This will not make it ANY easier OR safer to learn kiteboarding.Flag

Name: Travis Yakimishyn on May 7, 2009Comments: As an avid kiteboarder I completely disagree with this proposal. It is absolutely ridiculous to force kiteboarders to wear equiopment that I believe will make my sport more difficult and dangerous. It is also silly for the ministy of transport to requlate sports equipment. This is a very silly proposalFlag

Name: Clay Suttner on May 7, 2009Comments: PFDs should be optional for use when kiteboarding because they are utterly useless when considering floatation provided by the kite and board. Furthermore, the inherent risks of using a PFD outweigh the benefits greatly.Flag
