Name: James Jeffery on Nov 13, 2006Comments: SVA went relatively well with my car, one fail, a week later and a pass. Registration however, was a total nightmare. Eg. I turned up to an appointment when the inspector was actually on holiday ! (this appointment was organised THE DAY BEFORE the inspection ! ). A week later and I returned, it only took 2 mins to look at chassis number and engine number but took 4 hrs of my time each visit to load the car on a trailer and get there and back to the VOSA station which was just 10mins from the station Id have the SVA at a few weeks earlier ! Also the inspector wrote the wrong number down off my engine and then said I would get a Q plate as it didnt match my supplied donor V5...was a total farce. Trying to contact someone to discuss it was equally as frustrating, phoning DVLA at Swansea and going through the automated system then finally being passed between two people, whom then fax the office concerned who may or may not phone you back (normally the latter) this is EVERYTIME you try and contact the person dealing with the registration. I even had one return call from someone that claimed to know nothing about the process, so why did he ring me back then ! I have written a 3 page complaint letter but have yet to post it, it was a farce from start to finish. Well done on attempting to sort this out, petition signed. JamesFlag

It's pathetic. Also, why is a DVLA inspection of the chassis number required when the car has already been inspected at the SVA and the MOT, and registered on the DVLA computer system at the MOT using its' chassis number Why can't it be driven to the inspection seeing as it has already been driven to the SVA and MOT Too many departments that don't talk to each other, as usual.Flag
