Comments: It really should be the case that at least one person at every office is fully knowledgeable in kit car regulations, even if everyone isn't. As it stands at the moment, not only do many people not know the regs, they don't even seem to know where to check them!

Comments: There are too many varying interpretations, between regional offices, of the guidelines set out by DVLA Swansea. I hope that this petition heightens the need for more conformity and consistency between regional DVLA offices.

Comments: Registration at Nottingham was no problem, but I know of other people who have bought exactly the same car (with all new components) having difficulties registering the car due to having to have the car inspected.

Comments: The concept of a "local office" is a nonsense also - from my home there is no office closer than an hour's drive on a weekday, and I live in Surrey.

Comments: The requirement for an inspection also seems to be dependant on kit manufacturer and car model, Caterham 7's for example don't seem to require an inspection. I'd like to know what an inspection is supposed to find that a 3 hour SVA test doesn't find. From my experience the SVA testers are very picky always erring on the side of failure if there is any doubt and always having safety in the forefront of their decision making. I think the registration inspection is totally redundant and just shows the fragmentation adn lack of communication between DVTA and DVLA

Comments: I've been through the build process / SVA / Registration and frequently found myself confused about the best sequence to do things in and how to do them. Key variances by region were :- Chassis no (create own / take car to DVLA / be told over phone / make up from invoice), Sequence of events : MOt / SVA / Chassis number . None of this helps when trying to insure a car that has no identity !
