Name: Sarah Dobson on Feb 14, 2010Comments: I am strongly behind slowing traffic through our village and against road users using it as a 'rat run. However I believe that traffic calming measures or speed cameras would be more effective and less damaging to vehicles.Flag

Name: Stephen Pull on Feb 15, 2010Comments: The proposals are unnecessary, disproportionate, would "urbanise" our rural village and are a waste of public funds at a time when there are far greater priorities.Flag

Name: Margaret Serpico on Feb 15, 2010Comments: A huge over-reaction and I cannot think that the expense can be justified. This is a small village with a small problem being dealt with as if it were a major city with a major problem.Flag

Name: Richard Shillito on Feb 15, 2010Comments: This is not appropriate for Kintbury. The village is reduced to one lane of traffic from parked cars, so automatically reducing speeds. I live in the high street and I am entirely satisfied with the current arrangements. I am sure the parish council can think of better community ideas than these useless eyesores! The councils money would be better spent repairing all the pot holes that are a result of the recent poor weather - so preserving peoples cars - not damagiong them.Flag

Name: Ellie Dickins on Feb 15, 2010Comments: I wish to object to the proposal of speed bumps in Kintbury. A speed camera will be far more effective as it slows guilty drivers. Speeding drivers only accelerate between speed bumpsFlag

Name: Sally Parkman on Feb 16, 2010Comments: I thnk road humps would be the worst thing for Kintbury as I live in the High Street and it would cause more accidents with the cars parked. We are already trying to fight crime please let us have our village as it is.Flag

Name: Gary Baldie on Feb 16, 2010Comments: THIS SCHEME IS NOT WANTED BY KINTBURY VILLAGERS!!! Lets keep our rural villages RURAL!!! Stop bringing in features which only meet the needs of problems in URBAN areas! The scheme will damage houses through vibration and annoy residents through the constant NOISE!!! If you like DRUM SOLOS, then once the council put in their speed humps scheme it's going to sound like Cozy Powell's gone mad in this village.....!!! Thump thump...thump thump....thump thump..... thump thump <repeat> This place will soon be The Village of The Damned!! Object to this scheme NOW!!Flag

Name: Paul Thomas on Feb 16, 2010Comments: It's no good objecting on this website. You have to object to the Council's Highways section. Unless the petition organiser is sending in these comments, the Council will not go out searching for objections....... But I object anyway!!Flag

Name: Liz Hancock on Feb 16, 2010Comments: A complete waste of money and time and does not solve anything . Have the parish council signed up to this or even seen the plans? If they approved it they should be put up against a wall and shot. Just reinforces my view that the councillors are clueless and most likely do not live in the village so couldn't give a monkeys..!! I object to this very strongly. We should all write to the council before it's too late.Flag

Name: Steve Archers on Feb 16, 2010Comments: I'd only support this if the humps were put outside Stephen Cooks house. As parish chairman he's been campaigning for these humps for ages. If he wnats them he should have one outside his living room window and see how much he supports them then..Flag

Name: Pam Thoms on Feb 16, 2010Comments: It's the Councillor Anthony Stnafeld thats been banging on about these humps. Can't wait for the next election to get rid of him....He doesn't represent me! and if this design is any reflection of what he wants to see in the village then it seems that he doesn't represent ANY of us! I formally object to this proposal P Thomas 18 Church StreetFlag

Name: Mark Martin on Feb 16, 2010Comments: Will the council compensate me for the tyres that will be worn down quicker by having these all the way through my village? If so, I'm after a ful set of Pirelli Zero Trofeos 265/35ZR18 I have a sports car. (It's not a crime). It has lowered suspension and low profile tyres... (again, not a crime) By having these humps there a very real danger that my car will bottom out even when travelling very slowly. Why should this damage be allowed to happen. It's not like I would have an option to avoid these roads with humps. I LIVE IN THE VILLAGE!! I object and would hope that others in the village will write in to the council with their objections.Flag

Name: Fred Pointer on Feb 16, 2010Comments: I support most of this scheme. I do not own a car but all I see is cars destroying my village. I have lived here for 46 years and do not want to see any more lorries coming into our villageFlag

Name: Peter Snaisby on Feb 16, 2010Comments: I object to the humps. They will not stop lorries speeding through Kintbury as they are not wide enough. They will not stop motorbikes and mopeds screaming through Kinbury as they will not cover the middle of the road or the edges. All they will do is damage houses alongside the humps as car and lorries thump over them. A poorly thought out plan. Leave our village alone........ Why do 'the experts' always insist on tinkering about? We have moved to this village because it has wonderful character. This scheme is a thin end of a wedge designed to make Kintbury into 'any other village in England'. Do not allow this to happen.Flag

Name: Nigel Mayer on Feb 16, 2010Comments: Well done for highlighting this issue. The council have not distributed anyleaflets to my area, my neighbours or my friends in the village and are obviously trying to sneak this in and hoping to keep a low profile. We need posters put up in the shops on High Street and in the pubs. All car owners in Kintbury should be objecting to this very strongly. The council are hoping to avoid the normal democratic process and just pay lip service to the wishes of villagers. Stand up for our rights and object to this scheme. Contact the parish council and contact your Local Councillor. Anthony Stansfeld should be speaking on our behalf and should be objecting to this. Contact him on 01488 658238 now.Flag

Name: Sarah Shillito on Feb 17, 2010Comments: I live on the High Street and can think of few greater eyesores to our beautiful village than speedbumps, Not only will they look ugly, wreck cars and generally irritate, with drivers slowing down to negotiate them then speeding up in between, more importantly they cause HUGE problems to ambulances. If someone is in need (and we see quite a few going to Notrees to assist residents in need) the ambulances can't get there because of the challenges of negotiating speed bumps without damaging their lifesaving equipment.. If it is speed that needs to be killed, then get a speed camera!Flag

Name: Paul Norbury on Feb 17, 2010Comments: I am firmly against the laying of road humps as a traffic calming measure in Kintbury. With these, each vehicle will generate more pollution as it brakes and accelerates, and create more noise as it goes over the hump. The noise and pollution will usually be much higher with humps than without, particularly when vehicles with heavy loads and scaffolding travel over the humps. Such building lorries which may have loose loads tend to travel early in the morning and this will cause distrubance. Road humps also slow down emergency service vehicle, which has been actively campaigned against by emergency service personnel such as ambulance crews and fire crewsFlag

Name: Eileen Lewis on Feb 17, 2010Comments: I agree - road humps cause damage to cars . We have enough po holes to avoid but we canot avoid road humps. My car is squeaking badly after negotiating the very bad road surface on the level crossing.Flag

Name: Andy Staines on Feb 17, 2010Comments: There is no problem in our village. Don't even see speeding to be honest as the roads are so narrow. We do not need humps or chicanes. And do not bring in double yellow lines as shown on your plans It's just a measure to slap tickets and generate money for the council.Flag

Name: Martina Speller on Feb 17, 2010Comments: Are the council incapable of designing ANYTHING properly! Humps are not wanted! How much money is being spent of this work? How much has been wasted on the leaflets? Our council tax is just being flushed down the nearest drain when they should be spending money on repairing what we have. I object to this.Flag
