Yellow lines to prevent parking, humps or a school zebra crossing 40 mph speed limit to be reduced School sign to be erected To Parents and Residents of Chancellor Park I am contacting you to ask for you help with what I regard as a serious safety issue. I am appealing to make people aware of the dangers crossing at the top end of Kingsford Road (nr Henniker gate roundabout) for children & parents or both Chancellor Park and Barnes Farm Schools. I and many other parents feel it’s just an accident waiting to happen and no one wants to see a child hurt or killed. Last year I began a campaign to make Kingsford Drive a safer place for school children to cross and spoke to our local councilor about maybe a zebra crossing, humps or yellow lines. I had news articles published in both local newspapers but nothing has yet been resolved or changed. The council will not warrant a zebra crossing, however other options have been spoken about On many occasions children and parents have walked in front of oncoming cars and buses coming off the Henniker Gate roundabout, as we simply have to step into the road to look past the parked cars to see clearly both ways. I am hoping you could help please by refraining from parking at the top of the road during the hours of 8.30-9.15am and 3.15-4pm at school mornings and afternoons as parking here impairs our visibility. In the meantime, I have asked Mrs. Mills again to remind parents not to park at the top of Kingsford Drive and would really appreciate if residents could help. I know it is not illegal to park here but space is available at the rear of these houses so if you could make the use of it this could really help and could save lives. I am also requested a school sign to make drivers who do not live here aware that there is a school nearby and to reduce the speed limit approaching the roundabout.
