Save Khalid Mahmood the number one curry chef in Bristol. He has been here for 7 years serving the taste starved stomachs of the Pakistani community, working fourteen hours a day in tough conditions with little reumenration. For all the joy he has given, he himself lives in fear of an uncertain future. He has already made a trip to the deportation centre in Oxford and now his future rests on the European court of human rights. Question is why is he been deported? Was it his mistake? He came to UK on a valid work permit to work in Bristol. His only mistake was that he changed jobs, which he was completey entitled under the law, to work for another restaurant which unfortunately proved his undoing, as the the restaurant went bankrupt leaving him hanging, as his passport was with a lawyer for extension of his work permit. The lawyer turned out to be a fraud and got arrested by the police which utterly killed any chances of extension. All through the period Khalid kept on doing what he always did, creating sumptuous curries for the huge Pakistani community in the South West. But now he is bin deported. Why, I ask why is he being deported? Was it his mistake? Should he be penalised for changing a job? I think not, it is grossly unfair.
