1. Canada's system of government is composed of many positions that, while largely symbolic, possess great power and great responsibility in the event of crisis. Chief among these positions are that of the monarch of the United Kingdom, her representative in Canada the Governor General and the house of sober second thought, the Senate.

2. Regardless of opinion on the necessity or appropriateness of these positions in a modern democracy, common sense dictates that while they exist they should be filled by the most deserving and capable individuals possible.

3. Chief among the honours possible to bestow upon a Canadian citizen is the position of Governor General.

4. On October 22nd, 2014 Kevin Vickers, retired RCMP officer and Sergeant at Arms of the Canadian Parliament demonstrated beyond a shadow of a doubt his ability to fulfil his duty, both symbolically and in crisis.Furthermore, he earned the admiration and respect of Canadians as a man extremely capable of his role. Lastly, he earned the highest degree of gratitude from his from citizens .

As such, we declare our desire to see Kevin Vickers the next Governor General of Canada.
