Comments: If Archbishop Kelly wanted to keep this man a priest, then he should have put him in isolation. He should have kept him away from childern and young people. He should not have been allowed to work in a church. The Archbishop should have brought him into his offices and kept an eye on him.

Comments: If Kelley was the president of a corporation he would be fired immediately. Somehow he and his fellow priest of the archdiose don't seem to get it that perception is reality. He definately needs to resign

Comments: I agree Archbishop Kelly should resign. There is more than one instance of his shielding child molesting priests. I am a Catholic, belong to a local parish and cannot believe all that has come out over the last several years. Louisville is on a par with Boston.

Comments: When Church leaders place the protection of the reputations and careers of a few (priests) above the safety of many (parishioners) it's time for them to step aside and make way for new leadership. Analogously speaking: if commercial airlines were run like the Catholic Church, pilots would be repeatedly forgiven of showing up drunk for work and allowed to fly anyway. Oh, well, they're "only human, too" right Nevermind all the other human beings, that one, only-human aberration hurts or destroys while they're at it...

Comments: I no longer have faith in his ability to lead us forward. His total disregard for the victims he never sought out is appalling. If he wants to save money he should let Father Herp, Father Scherzer, Father Miller, Father Creagh, Father Clark, etc. go. The good old boys way of running the Catholic Church is over.

Comments: I believe that Thomas Kelly should be held to account both to the Catholic Church and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He conspired to allow children to be put at risk for sexual abuse and knowingly witheld knowledge of felony sexual abuse from the proper authorities. He made a choice to sacrifice the safety of children to avoid negative publicity. Thomas Kelly should immediately resign his position and turn himself in to the authorities, so he can be prosecuted along with the priests he assited (by neglect) to sexual abuse children.

Comments: The Archbishop should quietly resign. He's played too great a role in this sad scandal. Go and pray for the rest of us that must deal with the fall out. But leave leading the local church through this to a more effective and trusted replacement.

Comments: I never thought I would ever sign such a paper since I was raised by very religious and strong Roman Catholic parents, spent 7 years in the seminary only to leave a year from ordination, raised 2 sons to be strong Catholics, was president of the local Serra Club to encourage religious vocations and served on various committees at our parish. I am totally disgusted and outraged with the sleezy and slimy actions of Kelly, his predecessors and mostly all of the hierarchy that I want nothing to do with the Catholic church. It is with great pain that I make this decision to break the chain of generations in my family who strongly followed and believed in the church.
