Name: Bonnie Quilter on Apr 12, 2003State:Country: NZComments: Such dishonest subterfuge and colluded misrepresentation is not only unconscionable but criminal. Any cleric, regardless of seniority or position in the church should be accountable and in respect for victims and survivors step down from the church permanently. A group of Buddhist monks in Bangkok who had friends dressed as monks to assist in gathering donations for their temple, when discovered what they did voluntarily stepped down from monkhood for the shame they had brought on not only their temple, but Buddhist orders. It appears the Buddhist monks have higher principles and sense of conscience than that overtly and shamefully displayed globally by the Catholic church, given the Catholics constant denials, manipulation, lies and lack of compassion or conscience for vistims and survivors by the Catholic priests who are protected by the church. Any Bishop who covers abuse and assists in protecting and lying about perpetrators they are aware are clearly indicative of the desparation of these men to keep their disgusting patriarchal system alive. I suppose confession remedies all in the eyes of these men...well eventually, regardless of confessions, these men will realise the lies they continue to perpetrate will follow them to their graves. These men have no conscience or sense of decency or honour. Simple_Flag

Name: Roger Norem on Apr 13, 2003State: KYCountry: USComments: Bishop Kelly is a man whom I have respected, but his moral authority is gone. If he couldn't do the right thing when it was so black and white, how can we trust him in more obscure moral territory.Flag

Name: James Edwin Michael McGann on Apr 13, 2003State: ILCountry: USComments: I think that the only real hope for our church is his and many others resignation so as to allow more honest and compassionate men the chance to move in a more positive direction, addressing this issue and healing. The cover-up cannot continue or be ignored.Flag

Name: Julianne Thomas on Apr 13, 2003State: KYCountry: USComments: Although I am not a literal victim of abuse by priests, as a Catholic I feel we have all been victimized. I feel that it will take me a long time to once again trust any authority figure in the church. It has shaken a portion of my faith and trust in the church. It is also painful as a citizen of Louisville to know that this abuse has occured in my community. There are other cases of corruption in the Archdiocese of Louisville that His Excellency has turned a blind eye to--it is definately time for him to resign.Flag

Name: Todd Hall on Apr 15, 2003State: KYCountry: USComments: I say we fight with the checkbook. My vote is to withhold our monies from the Louisville area parishes until Kelly is forced out. If they will not listen to voice, they will listen to the financial side of it. It is the only way to make sure he is forced out. We can get a list of needy chuches outside his area of service and give to them instead. Think about it!!Flag

Name: Patricia Kidwell on Apr 17, 2003State: KYCountry: USComments: This reprehensible crime would be punished if it had been perpetrated by a "civilian". We should be able to hold our religious leaders to no less a standard. In fact, they should happily be held to a higher standard as servants of Christ. In my opinion, any person who condones the abuse of children should not be leading the church. God forgives, but we have no idea what future circumstance will arise that he will "sell us out" again.Flag
