Comments: people look at schools when purchasing a home. if they see the school is 8 miles away they will look at other neighborhoods therefore, property values will drop.

Comments: I believe that you a greatly mistaken in what is proposed at Trost Elementary School. There is no proposal to make the school a minority magnet school at all!!! If you read what is actually proposed you will see that it would be making it a magnet Dual Language Immersion (DLI) school with students who speak both Spanish and English at home, and make it more available to every child in the community. This program is thriving and the has a waiting list for students wanting to join. The reason of the original proposed is due to the decline of English class students and major budget cuts to our district. As a parent of one of the children who was in the very first class (and two more still in the program at Trost), I see nothing but positive results. These students see no race or color difference amongst their friends, they are learning a second language that will help them in their future and are at the same academic level as their peers, not in the program, in the end. Would you be against this opportunity for our children, if the language was French or German; is your main problem is that it is Spanish?? I hope that you understand where I stand, as a parent of Trost students in this program, and can appreciate my opinion.
