The Home Office is preparing to scrap the body which regulates Door Supervisors, Security Guards and other security workers across the UK.

The Security Industry Authority has been placed under the axe as part of a wider plan to cut the number and cost of public bodies.

Doing so would seriously damage the work already done to improve the standards and the reputation of the Security Industry in the UK.

Axing the SIA now would mean that staff would not long be required to be trained, vetted or competent to work in the industry. Associated industries would also be affected by this decision - Training providers, Awarding bodies etc.

This abolishment would result in the Security Industry once again becoming an haven for criminals and criminal behaviour.

Wages will decrease because employers would no longer need to pay extra for licensed staff resulting in experienced people being paid far less. Now is the time to stand up for the Industry.
