On March 17, 2009, there will be a parole hearing to determine the possible release of a convicted child rapist. Benjamin Arlie Parker, A.I.S. number 105871, was convicted on 2 counts of Rape 1 in May 1993. He raped his own 11 year old daughter, Michelle. She had the courage to fight for 2 years to get the case to court and have him convicted. Michelle passed away in june 2002, but the fight will continue to keep him incarcaerated. the question we ask you is: "Do you want this man in your community" If paroled, Gadsden, Alabama is the are he will return to as home. We are going to present this petition at the hearing as proof that Gadsden and surrounding areas are united against the release of Rapist of Children. We do not want to always be looking over our shoulder in fear for our children. Thank you for your signture. Did you know: If the person was convicted prior to May 1996, the offender is not subject to notification unless there is a change of residence. Also, if convicted out-of-state, they are not subject until after a due process hearing is completed in some cases. Or, the offender may have been residing in the neighborhood before you moved into the community and there are no on-going notifications. ‘Our lives begin to end the day we stay silent about things that matter.’ -Martin Luther King Jr
