Anonymous | Edmonton, Alberta | Although Kelly will always love Leo, I believe she will move on in her life and have a husband and family she deserves. Leo should remain buried where he is resting in peace so his Mom and family can be close to him. Although proud to have been an RCMP officer - he was a son first.

Bryan Hunter | Edmonton, AB | Let him rest.
Olga Meyer | 191 Foxhaven Close, Sherwood Park, Alberta T8A 6J4 | Shame on you Kelly for being so selfish. You were married to Leo for only 3 1/2 months, so his family should have a say in where he is buried.. You will move on in your life, probably re-marry and perhaps hs you will have a child ,then you might understand how the Johnstons feel. WHY would you not want his family to have access to his grave? He should remain where is.
Trudy and Andre Larouche | Langley, BC | I am disgusted by his wife's attempts to move him to Regina. As the wife of an RCMP member, I can say that if anything ever happened to my husband, I know he would want to be buried near the family who loves him and will visit his gravesite. She is obviously doing this for her own glorification and to receive attention.
Anonymous | 216,14115-76 St. Edmonton | Leo's body definitely should remain in Lac La Biche.

Donalee Burnstad | 92bmount pleasant drive | Please keep him home. I think it is wrong to move the remains of the dead out of thier hometown. consider my comment
Annette L'Hirondelle | 21,14825-118St, Edmonton, AB. T5X3A6 | I am a distant cousin to Leo and I find it very disheartening that someone would actually allow this to happen.
Tyler Clark | 1116 Ballantyne Drive, Ottawa, ON |
Brenda L'Hirondelle | 1509-115th Avenue | I am in support of Leo's remains staying in Lac la Biche. I would like you to ask yourself who would know Leo better? His parents who raised him to be the fine man he was or his wife whom he was only married to for 3.5 months? I have been to Lac La Biche and there is a large number of Metis there who are very proud of their heritage. In stating this I can see how the family (Johnston) must feel. To disturb the remains is the ultimate insult. He wanted to be buried in Lac La Biche so please let him stay there.

tami zaburs | box 6185, wetaskiwin, ab, t9a 2e9 | I feel the right time to have made this decision was before he was interned. Let him rest in peace as he has given the ultimate sacrifice for his country, home town, people and his job. His wife needs to move on and show her deep love for him by leaving him in peace.
Brian Ross | Lacombe | Leo's parents have and will always be his parents...leave Leo in Lac La Biche
Diane Krasnow | RR 1, Site 14, Box 16 Gunn, Alberta T0E 1A0 | I definitely think that he should be left to rest where he is. His widow can come and visit whenever she wants. She is still young and maybe one day she will remarry and have a new husband, but for his parents he will always be their one and only son. I hope she has a change of heart and sees what an injustice this is for his parents but also for him.
| 2490 | C. Cunningham | RR 1, Site 2, B0x 7 Red Deer, Ab T4N 5E1 | I had no recollection that Const. Johnston and Kelly had only been married such a short time. I think it is morrally wrong for his remains to be exhumed, cremated and ashed moved out of the province. Does his blood relationship going back several generations, and his ties to this community mean nothing to this young lady? If laws are in place to allow these kinds of decisions to stand, there is a desperate need for changes
ie: the couple would need to have been married for a longer period of time (for instance) perhaps at least one year. I sincerely hope some common sense will enter the picture before it's too late. This decision , if allowed to continue, will create an anomosity between Kelly and the family, and community, which will never be righted.
Good luck Johnstons. May common sense and dignity for Leo prevail. Sincerely, C. Cunningham |
Fern Vogt | 449-52477 highway 21 Sherwood Park AB | Religious beliefs in Canada are always honored weather born here or not why then our native beliefs not as important. I'm metis and i was raised with the understanding that once a native person is buried the worst thing that you can do is disturb the grave it is in grained in us and i can't imagine how afraid that mother and father are knowing their sons soul which is now at peace will know longer be at peace. This family has suffer enough.
Suzanne Weir | 11304 167B Ave Edmonton AB T5X 6G8 | Please keep Leo where he is. Perhaps a headstone in the RCMP cemetery would suffice.
