We, Edenwilde residents, Sweet Apple Elementary families and friends; oppose the Round 3 Draft Map Plan as presented on April 13, 2011 to the community. The redistricting as proposed on Map 3 involves a split-feeder system from Elkins Pointe to Roswell High School and Milton High School. We believe any split feeder system is unfair to all students and that continuing that split, no matter how you divide the students, is a negative. The split feed from Middle to High School divides the students’ loyalties, negatively effects overall school spirit, and opens the students up to many difficult choices. These issues are a direct result of forced separation in friendships formed over the last 8 school years for all students involved. High school is hard enough without adding this burden on our kids. We, Edenwilde residents, Sweet Apple Elementary families and friends; oppose the Round 3 Draft Map Plan as presented on April 13, 2011 to the community based on the geographic proximity of new school structure. As a part of the primary criteria related to geographic proximity, Edenwilde, which currently attends Roswell High School is approximately 2 miles from Roswell High School (which involve only 2 red lights), with the major intersection being a right hand turn and commute time 5-10 minutes. If Edenwilde was redistricted to Milton as proposed in the Draft plan, the distance by miles is similar or slightly greater; the commute time is significantly more making the proximity greater. The drive time which involves two lane roads, left hand turns without lights, and a left hand turn without a turn lane is at least 20 minutes and with additional traffic coming from Crabapple due to other neighborhoods being rezoned to Milton this will increase dramatically. We, Edenwilde residents, Sweet Apple families and friends; SUPPORT strengthening the Fulton County School System and enriching all students school experience by encouraging a sense of unity, school spirit and community that is continuous from Elementary School to Middle School and into High School. We, Edenwilde residents, Sweet Apple families and friends; support the city of Roswell financially, with volunteerism and participation in community events. We are Roswell. Roswell is our community. Please do not divide our community and take away the identity our families are proud to be a part of. Leave us where we belong, leave us at Roswell.
