Petition to keep Dutchess County Loop bus running To: Governor David A. Patterson, Mayor John C. Tkazyik, Mr. Roger P. Akeley Commissioner (Division of Mass Transit), Department of Public Works, Mr. Irving Cure General Manager (Loop Bus), Poughkeepsie Journal: We the undersigned riders of the Dutchess County Loop system would like to bring to your attention our disappointment and frustration over the impending cuts/elimination in services provided. We feel very passionately about this issue. Understandably so, we have decided to start this petition. Keeping the Dutchess County Loop Bus system in operation is our primary goal since we were recently informed that beginning January the Hyde Park Loop bus will be eliminated, Apple Valley, Beacon, New Hamburgh services will be reduced considerably. With the economy the way it is we think it is unfair that Department of Transportation and the owners of the Dutchess County Loop Bus should be reducing and in the case of Hyde Park eliminating services provided to these areas without carefully considering the hard working people affected by this decision who depend on this service. If/when the Dutchess County Loop bus is terminated it will affect a lot of commuters and the alternative for those who can afford it is taking cabs which can run anywhere from $6 to $20 each way depending on where you live. We the undersigned petitioners are asking that you please maintain the Dutchess County Loop Bus System at its current level so that it can continue to benefit the commuters.
