Recently Auburn University has joined with a private company to start charging a fee to tailgate on certain areas of campus. We understand that as of now the University and the Tailgate Guys are securing certain areas and charging for setting up and breaking down spots as a service to tailgaters. Even though the Tailgate Guys are only charging for their setup and break down services, by securing those areas, it in turn means charging for those tailgate spots. If this business is successful, they plan to expand their secured area to more spots on campus, which is what we are ultimately against. If this business is successful, they do have plans to expand to more areas on campus. That is how a business grows. Our goal is to keep that expansion from happening to the best of our ability. They have stated that they, and those who will be using their services, have exclusive rights to those certain areas on campus during Auburn gamedays. The point of this group is to provide information about an issue that we feel is wrong. We have the link provided so everyone may get as much information as they choose and decide if this will affect them and/or they want to be a part of the group.
