The parents of the pupils at Alameda Middle School object strongly to the removal of the crossing patrol by the local authority, in the centre of Ampthill . This will seriously endanger the safety of our children as they attempt to cross the main road of a busy market town. The roads are narrow and cars are parked along both side of the road limiting visibility for pedestrians and drivers. The children's school start time means they are walking to school at peak rush hour times.The traffic includes buses, heavy lorries and construction vehicles. It would be only a matter of time before a serious accident occured. We encourage our children to walk to school, in line with the government agenda to encourage a more active lifestlye; we feel this decision puts the children at risk and we would be forced to drive our children to school in order to ensure their safety.
