As filmmakers, artists and residents of Hollywood and the Greater Los Angeles Area, we hereby boycott LA Film School as a result of it's actions to close or otherwise impede the Sunday Farmers Market. The market is a local institution providing valuable, sustainable resources to the community. The market has been more than just a gathering point at which local farmers provide affordable and healthy food, it is a rare example of community and use of public space in a city that can otherwise feel alienating and antiseptic. LAFS' efforts to 'modify the footprint' of the market are absurd. LAFS has ample parking and access to it. By LAFS own admission, the school is in fact closed on Sunday. There is no reason for LAFS to work against the community with it's actions. As producers, media workers & production company owners we represent a unique voice against LAFS, for it is our community who provides employment opportunities for LAFS students & grads, potential instructors or guest lecturers, potential donations of equipment and services. LAFS is taking dramatic measures to work against a neighborhood resource. Until LAFS reverses it's actions in true support of the neighborhood and the farmers, we as Filmmakers withhold our support of LAFS.

Helen Driscoll, United States4 years ago Comments: I have gone to the Hollywood Farmers Market almost every week since it opened 19 years ago. As a past screenwriter with many friends still in the film community, I support the efforts of this petition and will do whatever I can to bring this to the attention of all the producers I know.

Ann Wallace, United States4 years ago Comments: I was at the Hollywood Farmers market this morning and was stunned to learn that they may be closed as early as next week. I can't believe that a healthy food institution like this, and one of the best farmers markets in the country, would be closed so easily...are you nuts? Learn to live in the neighborhood, for goodness sakes.
