We the Maxwell Park Elementary School parents, educators, neighbors, and/or concerned citizens of Oakland, believe that Maxwell Park Elementary School should remain an open, viable, and public institution for educating our children. We wholeheartedly support Principal Ruben Aurelio as an integral part of the team and insist that he receive full support from the Oakland Unified School District as the school enters into a phase of Restructuring or Reconstitution. A final decision will be recommended by the Oakland School Board. A final meeting with the School Board will be held on February 28th from 4-8pm at 1025 2nd Avenue at the School District Office. Let\'s send a clear message to the School Distict, Keep Maxwell Park Open!!

Carolyn Arnold, United States8 years ago Comments: I am a neighbor who believes in the value of this neighborhood school with this principal's positive leadership. We have no children, but want the children of this neighborhood to have a local school that is so supported of the neighborhood and so supported by the neighborhood and parents.
Eileen Garrish, United States8 years ago Comments: Maxwell Park needs its elementary school. Why doesn't the Oakland School Distrct ever learn its lesson! You are driving the children out of the Oakland public schools. Stop closing our schools. A lottery to see what near or far away school your child can go to it absolutely ridiculous as well as completely counter productive. Wake up before it's too late.
Stefanie, United States8 years ago Comments: I have heard many parents are trying, before their children are ready to enter elementary school, work at making Maxwell Park Elementary school a positive environment. Their efforts and those of the families currently enrolled should be applauded and not punished.
