Name: Councillor Richard Bingley on Nov 20, 2006Comments: Please can any residents let me know if they are affected by the proposed closure of this route so I can feed this back to bus company Arriva and Thurrock Borough Council, who I am asking to step in and meet with Arriva to find a solution, rather than cutting our community's bus service. Thanks, RichardFlag

Name: Cllr Bukky Okunade on Nov 22, 2006Comments: I would not like to see the bus 377 running from Tilbury to Grays and Lakeside axed. People visiting, living and/or working in Tilbury rely on the bus as one of the means of getting out and about. I hope the bus company will reconsider their decision.Flag

Name: Elizabeth Hosford on Nov 23, 2006Comments: Since the 383 Bus changed its route, the 377 is the only regular public transport source down into Grays from the Ridgeway, Dartview Close area. This service should not be axedFlag

Name: Anonymous on Nov 23, 2006Comments: I use the 377 to go to Grays Station and home again and use the stop on Chadwell Road, the only alternative I know of is the 383 and this stops the other side of woodview,If they axe the 377 there will be not suitable service for the people who live on this route and it would also add to the journey timeFlag

Name: Kirsty on Nov 24, 2006Comments: i need this bus to get to college everyday. the bus time change was a great idea as it makes it so much more conveniant to get there. however the bus time change (every 15 mins) wouldnt work with just the 383 running in that area. as well as this, 383 tends to sometimes take twice as long to get within the area of my college whereas 377 tends to get there promptlyFlag

Name: Abigail Leighton on Nov 24, 2006Comments: I am glad that somebody is trying to do something to save this bus route. As at 7:30 in the morning there is no over bus route for me to get to work. And as Winter is drawing closer i am not willing to do a half an hour walk in the freezing cold.Flag

Name: Debra Leighton on Nov 24, 2006Comments: Yes i am the Mother of Abigail Leighton, and i am also glad that someone is dong something about this, as well as quiet a lot of people are as well. The only problem i see is that this online petition is a great idea but what about those who can not use a computer How will they be able to have their say Either way i hope that Arriva will change their mind as many people use this bus on a regular basis, my daughter used it when she went to college and now she use's it to get to work. It's only a short journey from tilbury to chadwell, but if she has to work it in the early hour's of the morning in the cold this is not good for her legs as se has arthuritus. And when my daughter send arriva a email all they had to say was " Miss Leighton, I can confirm that the 377 route will be withdrawn, and a revised timetable will be introduced on the 383 service. Name: Shirley Pender on Nov 26, 2006Comments: When will consideration be given to those of us that DO NOT drive motor vehicles. We are asked not to create more pollution by driving cars and use buses etc but what are we supossed to do when Tilbury becomes almost inaccesible without cars after tea time.Flag

Name: Cllr Val Liddiard on Nov 27, 2006Comments: Providing access to services and facilities is a government priority. Many people living in Tilbury rely on public transport to get to Grays for key public services and employment. It is imperative that Arriva and the Council work together to find a solution to any problems that risk withdrawal of key bus routes from the town. Withdrawal of public transport is not the answer - perhaps more subsidies are required from the government - we need to identify the root cause of sustainability for our bus services and work to achieve this.Flag

Name: James Duncan, Head Of Passenger Transport, Thurrock Council on Nov 27, 2006Comments: Service 377, which Arriva have operated commercially - that is without any subsidy from Thurrock Council - will end in December. This decision is a commercial one by Arriva with no input from the Council, and is based on the level of income they are getting compared with the costs of providing the service. The Council could, if it was felt appropriate, seek tenders for a replacement service to ensure that local residents and businesses are not left isolated. However in this particular case, an alternative bus route is the Service 77 operated by Ensignbus (the pale blue and silver buses). Ensign started this service in July 2006 and operate every 30 minutes during the bulk of the day - between 06.00 and 20.00 plus additional evening services - with a very similar level of service to that provided by Arriva and over an almost identical route. In addition, Ensignbus now operate another route, Service 66, between Tilbury and Grays/Lakeside via Little Thurrock. Both these services call at Civic Square in Tilbury. There is also a third service, operated by Imperial Bus Company as Service 320, which operates by a different route between Tilbury and Grays / Lakeside. In the absence of Arriva, the provision for bus passengers along the route is no worse - in fact it's considerably better for most locations - with Ensignbus than has been the case for a long time when Arriva were the only operator in the area, and thus I do not see that it would be appropriate for the Council to intervene.Flag

Name: Abigail Leighton on Nov 27, 2006Comments: To James Duncan, Head of Passenger Transport, Thurrock Council, I have read your comment on the 377 bus route. I am still not satisfied due to the fact that the 320 may go past me but does not go any where near my bus stop which is the Cross Kays pub! And as far as the 66 bus route, when i go to work it does not go my way untill after 10am, and as for the 77 bus route, i do not see why i should have to make my journey any longer than i already do. Walking to Civic Square will add an extra 20mins to my journey to and from work. And I have spoken to various bus drivers and they say that you will not be putting the 383 as far as calcutta (my stop) and that you have not even revised a new timetable, and as there is only 2 more weeks until you supposedly cancel this bus, i believe you should get a move on and inform all your drivers and passengers.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Nov 27, 2006Comments: i think there is somethin that people should know on this petiton, that is the 377 is not da only service from Tilbury. The blue 77 bus is exactly the same and it does go through cross keys. this councillor is talking rubbish, anyone would tink that 377 is the only bus there is!!!Flag

Name: Mark Williams on Nov 28, 2006Comments: I am saddened by the loss of this bus route, many people rely on the service to get them to and from work, the other route do not cover the same route, nor do they deliver in the early mornings or late evenings. The removal of this route will create another daming block to the oppertunities avalable to people in the Tilbury area, impact on the most vulnerable and further isolate our community. The loss of this route will leave people stranded and create again a second class service. Shame on you.Flag

Name: Abigail Leighton on Nov 28, 2006Comments: to the person who is anonymous after me, yes you are correct there is another bus service, the 77, but those who do not live by civic square will have to make an extra journey! if u had read what i said, den you would have read it properly. early in the morning people are not willing to make an extra walk from a bus stop which is near them to a bus stop thats a further walk! Why should they when there is a bus stop near them which takes them to where they want to go i do not see why i should have to walk further than i have to, to get to a bus stop for me to get to work in Chadwell. The 77 does not come down to the Lansdowne School, and the bus service 66, does come passed lansdowne school but does not go upto Chadwell untill after 10am. so the only bus i can get is 377 from my area of Tilbury!Flag
