Dear Mr. Britt and Mr. Marcus: I am writing to voice my concern following the news that you may remove WE tv from Time Warner Cable’s channel line-up in my community. As a I represent a large contingent in my community and I know that this group would rally against the loss of WE tv, one of the only mainstream cable networks that celebrates positive role models for African American women. The stars of many of WE tv’s most popular series are talented African American women who are successful businesswomen and leaders in their communities – in particular, Erica and Tina Campbell of WE tv’s show “Mary Mary,” which is currently airing on the network. “Mary Mary” is one of the few reality series on television that gives a positive voice to strong, successful, black women who are committed to the church. I’m not alone in recognizing Eric and Tina’s contributions. In fact, the NAACP has recognized them with two prestigious NAACP Image Awards on February 1, 2013. These are the types of affirmative role models we should celebrate, not repudiate. I hope you will reconsider dropping WE tv and commit to serving your customers fairly by continuing to offer them a full range of viewing choices. Sincerely, Your Viewers, for now
