Recently, Tucsonans learned that Circle K would be replacing our local alternative weekly newspaper, The Tucson Weekly, with a paper produced and primarily targeted toward the Phoenix metro area. Tucson, the Old Pueblo, has a proud tradition and a unique local culture. Our experiences with Phoenix have almost always been negative from micromanagement by Phoenix area politicians of our local school boards and local governments, to disdain by Phoenix residents of the unique charms and lifestyle of our region. Circle K's decision to replace our local weekly paper, one held in high regard for the level of reporting it does as well as the magnificent job writing about local arts and culture, could be seen as a slap in the face to your Tucson customers by a company out of touch with this community and desirous of promoting Phoenix interests ahead of those of our own area. We strongly urge Circle K to not replace the Tucson Weekly in your stores with the Phoenix backed and centric Arizona Weekly. As your loyal customers we want to feel that Circle K really does care about us and our community first and foremost. Please keep the Tucson Weekly in your stores!
