Comments: This is an amazing bar with a brilliant atmosphere, over recent years alot of venues for music have been closed down or licences revoked, this is a bar that supports young and old island musicians, to question the licence and stop live music is a utter disgrace, this bar and its owners do everything to support local musicians, talent from further afield and also local businesses. We trust that this is heard and the individuals dealing with the licence sit back and listenFlag -

Name: Samuel Comber on Jan 21, 2013Comments: It's hard enough for musician's to get a foothold and work their way up to success as it is, especially somewhere as small and secluded as the Isle of Wight. Not to mention that Live Music is an active interest for many young people who may otherwise get involved in unruly behaviour. The benefit of venues such as the Wight Rock Bar massively outweigh the slight disturbance caused to residents in it's immediate vicinity.Flag

Name: Edan Bartlett on Jan 21, 2013Comments: The Wight Rock Bar is one of the few greatest venues on the island. It gives up and coming artists the opportunity to become well known. If the Wight Rock Bar goes then the island will be using one of the best venues to play at. There are ways in which you can soundproof your house. If the Wight Rock Bar goes then the island is losing an important part which makes the island great.Flag

Name: Kevin Crew on Jan 21, 2013Comments: I live very close to the premises in question, and have never had any issue with noise or behaviour related to wight rock bar. The Black Sheep, on the other hand, is equidistant from my property and is a constant source of noise. I frequent Wight Rock on occasion and have seen the owners being very strict with noise from smokers outside, as well as enforcing the 11 o'clock curfew on live music. It would be a shame to see one complaint put an end to a venue that has done so much for the rejuvenation of the live music scene in Ryde, and I hope an appropriate compromise can be reached!!Flag

Name: Jamie Tabner on Jan 21, 2013Comments: The wight rock bar is one of the islands last remaining venues that caters to and nurtures young local talent and is an essential part of this islands thriving music scene it would be travesty and a huge loss if they were to lose their licenseFlag

Name: Anonymous on Jan 21, 2013Comments: I think it's ridiculous that someone could knowingly move to a property that's in the vicinity of a live music venue and then have the nerve to complain about it. The Wight Rock is a respectable establishment with honest owners that work hard, and it's terrible that someone is so willing to try and destroy that all over a bit of music. I live next to a main road which gets very noisy at times so I invested in some earplugs for at night. It's not rocket science!!Flag

Name: Alexander Lawson Lightfoot on Jan 21, 2013Comments: The Wight Rock Bar is one of the few venues on the island that has consistently supported up and coming local talent. The noise from outside the venue is barely audible, compared to the usual drunken crowd hanging outside of Wetherspoons, and to top it off it is probably the only bar on Ryde High Street that I have been to that doesn't constantly have the police in attendance.Flag

Name: Ethan Still on Jan 21, 2013Comments: not only is this one of the few music venues on the island that plays original acts week in week out but was a huge part of my uni course at platform one for the three years i was a student there. This would be a huge blow to the islands student community and its music scene as a whole if the license was to be revoked.Flag

Name: Sam Matlock on Jan 21, 2013Comments: The Wight Rock bar has always been extremely reasonable with their Sound Guidelines, cutting out live music by curfew without fail every night i've been (extremely regular customer). To take away the Wight Rock bar would seem like the final straw in killing off the Island's music scene, which used to be so thriving and something for the resident youth to be proud of. With so little for younger peoples to do it would simply lead to more teenagers and young adults loitering outside the library with no motivation or inspiration to engage in a form of art or socialise around an outgoing crowd. With the reputation the Wight Rock bar has from it's owners as a beacon of professional live entertainment and a business opportunity for young promoters, personally, as a former resident, i would be heartbroken for those still living there to see it go.Flag
