They actually reversed it and the show is coming back to WEOS because they finally realized we were not going anywhere. My head is spinning a bit but the airwaves are ours again so keep watching the schedule because we have a lot of lost time to make up.

Final supporters
WXXI in Rochester, NY decided after three decades to cancel The Metallic Onslaught radio show on WEOS FM out of Geneva, NY.
WXXI has a partnership with WEOS to supply programming.
The WEOS studios are in the process of moving from a house on Hamilton Street to the building that houses the school post office. The last show MO ran was on Friday, 7/18/14. We were under the assumption we would be off the air for a couple of weeks and then be brought back with no changes. We were informed on Thursday 8/7/14 we were canceled after we had pre-recorded a new show to let the audience know we would be back. We also had a back up show loaded into the WEOS computer that should have aired on 7/25/14 that was pulled by WXXI and they never informed us of this.
As of today we have not had any dialog with WXXI management, even though we requested a meeting with them to discuss their decision to cancel the show.
The Metallic Onslaught has aired on WEOS for over three decades. Starting in the early 80's as a weekly show. It moved to just Saturday nights with steady hosts, then eventually moved to Friday night with the same host for over the last twenty years. The show has grown to more than just a metal show with a diverse cast of characters and a focus on the community and working with various groups and bands. We pride ourselves in being able to support local businesses and music as much as possible.
We work with Area Records in Geneva, Fingerlakes MetalFest held in Clyde, Roc City Roller Derby in Rochester, Women's Right To Rock Festival in Seneca Falls, Fingerlakes Lunachicks Roller Derby, 2CW Wrestling in Syracuse. We use local artists to design and manufacture our t-shirts. We have been asked to MC various charity events, cancer benefits for a dear friend and great musician and for the Eagle Hotel in Lodi.
We feel that we have been taken off WEOS unfairly to be replaced by BBC World News. Maybe due to the music we play as they have not canceled any of the other community operated shows. Certainly not for being part of a growing relationship with our extensive community. We have made a lot of friends over the years and have enjoyed every minute of it.
We are asking that whether you have worked with us before, you listen to our show live, listen to our old shows via our webpage stream, or are just a metalhead brother or sister, that you please sign the petition we set up and email WXXI via the links below. It may not get us back on the air but please let them know how you feel. Please be respectful in your emails as we don't know who will be reading them, and we know our friends can speak their mind in a good way.
We know this is a long statement, thank you for sticking with us.

I can see the count ticking up toward one hundred and it really highlights how quiet WXXI is being about the whole thing. If everyone here just sends a quick link to a few metalheads who remember the Friday night shows maybe we can finally force them to actually talk to us.

It is hard to believe that this show would be cancelled. It has been a staple in my weekend listening for years and years. The cast of this show have become invaluable to the local music artists and venues in the region. Have you no sense of community? Pulling this show feels a lot like a stab in the back to so many of us in the region. Please reconsider this decision and let us keep listening to our favorite music. We may not be the main stream public, but we are here, we are strong and we want our Metallic Onslaught.
30 years of history gone just like that? This show meant so much to the scene in Geneva. Bring it back.
Real disappointed in WXXI for this. The Metallic Onslaught is the only reason I even turn on the radio anymore. Fix this mistake.
I grew up listening to this show every single Friday night. WXXI has no idea what they are throwing away.

I really don't think WXXI is looking at the big picture at all. To me, it seems that they just don't want a heavy metal show in their programming. They look at us, see the video footage, etc., and just assume we're a bunch of goofs who don't properly represent their typical variety of programming. They don't see what we do as far as supporting the local scene, and they don't see the good that we're doing for the community. Not just in our immediate area, either, this is all across the Finger Lakes region. We support, and in turn have the support, of artists from pretty much Syracuse to Buffalo, north AND south of the Finger Lakes. We've helped raise toys for sick children, we've helped raise money to aid an awesome little lady in her attempts to fight off breast cancer, we've emceed Women's Rights To Rock in Seneca Falls as well as Finger Lakes Metal Fest. Most importantly, our show gives local bands a chance to be heard, not to mention underground artists from all across the world. But, in the end, I guess WXXI just doesn't care about all that...
they Keep taking away what we Love Metal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah it was a great show that always tried to help build a local scene for the surrounding areas and tried to get people to support local shows.
