On January 10th, 2016 it was announced by the WMUA Station Programmer that the WMUA Polka Weekend Block has been reduced from 12 hrs. (6 on Saturday and 6 on Sunday) to 4 hrs. on Sunday only.

Polkas have been a staple on WMUA since 1979 and for many years have been heard for 12-13 hrs. each and every weekend 52 weeks a year. In the 36 years polkas have been on the airwaves, their shows have raised nearly a half a million dollars from polka supporters. Now, a month and a half after having the station's annual fundraiser (of which the polka shows raised $24,000 in 20 hours). Station management wants to reduce 12hrs. of polka programming to 4hrs. This is a disgrace to the Polish Community who has supported this station for all these years.

By signing this petition, I am demanding the return of all 4 polka shows and their hosts returned to their regularly scheduled 12 hr. weekend block.

This online petition will be passed on to University administration so please fill out your name, location, email address and how you listen (FM radio dial or internet feed).

I grew up listening to this with my family. Now as a mother of three, 19, 17 and a 10 yrar old.I still put the show on for my kids. In a time when the kids listen to rap,y three still hold dear our mornings of family weekend breakfasts and polish music.

I have been listening to Billy Belina since 1979. His show is an important community resource and part of the fabric of the Pioneer Valley. WMUA should be civic minded and keep the show on. A lot of people will be very disappointed is you cancel it!!

I have been a long time listener and polka-thon contributor, I am truly disappointed in Wmua's new management decision to cut the hours of the polka shows. Until the full schedule is restored I will no longer be making monetary donations to Wmua.

This has been a staple on WMUA for years, I used to guest DJ the Polka Program from time to time and many times we would go longer than our slot time because other programs wouldn't show up, keeping music on WMUA. Please keep Polka music going.

My 90 yr old mom still listens to this station each Saturday. She really loves her polish roots, and enjoys this so much. To take it away, especially from the Seniors, is such a travesty. I hope you keep it going!!! From one Polski to another!!!!

Please keep our polkas on the air. Many of our polka listeners are elderly and they are not able to get to the dances. They enjoy hearing the IJ's talk about what's happening and listening to the great music. This is important! Thank you very much.
