Injustice in South Lake Tahoe, Ca Some of you may have read the Tahoe Daily Tribune on Monday July 2, 2012, proudly proclaiming "Police arrested a teenage suspect in Friday stabbing." I am writing this to set the record straight and inform the public that a grave injustice is being carried out in el Dorado County by the very people meant to "Serve and protect" our community. My question is who is being protected? El dorado County is currently charing this "teenage suspect" with a serious felony and even worse as an adult, in what is clearly a case of self defense. This boy was attacked by three drunken men well into their 20's while riding his skateboard home along one of Tahoe's beautiful bike paths one late summer afternoon. The boy was simply defending himself against adult men who were intoxicated and spat at him and threatened him and is now sitting in the Juvenile Treatment Center, while these three men are free to roam the streets, drunkenly bragging at parties about how they assaulted the young boy. How El Dorado County feels they are doing the community a service is completely beyond my understanding. They are attempting to put this child away in a state penitentiary for up to 7 YEARS! At the tender age of 16. I feel by sending this boy, who has no prior violence recorded in his past whatsoever to prison with hardened violent criminals, seriously hinders any opportunity this young man has at becoming a succesful productive citizen. Why on earth is law enforcement attempting to institutionalize this young man, while the real criminals and predators walk free? Anyone attempting to do this to one of the children in our community is as guilty as the men who started the brawl. Why aren't the children's rights being protected?? I say we need to Stand up and ask what is really going on before more of our children end up in a situation like this one. Please repost to show support to the family of this teenage boy and to show that the real criminals who attacked him should be in jail in his place!
