The petition

We, the undersigned, all taxpayers in the South Eastern School District, are against the full-time usage of the emergency exit behind Kennard-Dale High School that intersects with Thompson Road in Fawn Grove Borough.

We feel that by allowing students and faculty to use this entrance all the time will create a safety problem, public welfare issue and have an environmental impact on the residents surrounding the Thompson Road area. Thompson Road is mostly unpaved and is not wide enough for two cars to pass each other. Dust from the road is already unbearable and the increased traffic will only exasperate the problem. Limited sight distance on either end of Thompson Road creates a safety issue.

The reasons stated by the SESD Superintendent Dr. Shank to use this entrance are all for emergency use only. There is nothing preventing emergency use of the Thompson Road exit. We feel that the proposed improvements required to make daily use of this entrance is a waste of South Eastern tax dollars and is actually part of a hidden agenda by the SESD School Board.

We are requesting that the Kennard-Dale rear entrance ONLY be used for emergency evacuation and for clearing the parking lot after a school function such as dances and graduations. It is also requested that NO improvements be done to the rear entrance. Any improvements at this time would be frivolous use of our tax dollars and offer nothing in return to the mission of South Eastern School District.
