Arun KumarThis is discrimnation against us Pacific Islanders. We should have freedom to our choice of drink. Give us back the KAVA.
VIJAYkava has destroyed lots of families in Fiji, it should be banned for ever. why drink mud when god has given us water.
Jai KumarThere should be relevant community consultation and proper dabate on this issue before any decision is made. If necessary, restriction of kava sale would be a better solution than banning it.
Jaynee ChanThe worse thing that can happen to people is to take away what belongs to them.....dearly. Australia is a multicultural country, so why take away the cultural practice of the Fijians. How would you like it if BBQ is banned in Australia?
Sandip RattanLet Kava flow free. Lift the ban as this is doing more harm with rocketing prices for whatever Kava trickles through via "personal use"!
vineshkava keeps the commmunity together and we get to no more people
david singhkava has a lot of friends

Anonymousbetter than rd wine
VaniIt is not fair that we the Islanders that respect and use the kava for ceremonial purposes is punished. Why should we suffer becoz of the misuse by some group. We all have been paying taxes for the last 100years collectively as a island community we dont try and build churches for our religion or oppose any community activity for the benefit of all in the country all we ask is to be able to have at least 4 kilo of kava ova the weekend as it is anti depressant drink that just calms our hard week of work. Please reconsider and allow us to have our drink the freedom of trade in this beautiful country we all call home.

AnonymousWe also need to shot down the FDA, arrest its commissioner, and charge him with crimes against humanity under the Nuremburg trials.
christioh and FYI Kava is a narcotic.. A DRUG and therefore it should NOT be legalised!
Sitiveni Whippy
Mark GreenI believe restricting Fijians from importing something which is a part of their culture is absurd. Lift the restrictions and allow people to live how they believe they should.
Iliesa TemoTake him down!!!
Sue GuilfoyleThe Gold Coast Fijian and Friends Association Inc also feel strongly that the significance of kava to the Pacific Island communities living in Australia has not been carefully considered by the Australian Government. We were unaware of this petition and started our own as part of our ongoing lobbying for the importation ban to be lifted. Please visit our ipetition on this site - we would really appreciate your support! http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/gcffaipetition/ Vinaka vakalevu! 323 AnonymousThis ban should be lifted immediately! It represents a redundant and culturally intolerant stance and as such should be removed now!
Anonymousalcaholic is the culprit not kava.
David Rokotuni
Duncan GrahamNot only have I found kava to be relaxing, socially enhancing and a good non-destructive alternative to alcohol, but it a central part of Fijian (and other Pacific Island) ceremony and socialization. Excessive use MAY be harmful, but excessive use of any ingested material is harmful. One might as well ban alcohol, which is more generally used to excess and bad effect.
Chanel VitalePlease remove the resticktions on kava imports from Fiji
nacaplz remove restriction on kava
