I read this article a few hours ago, and have been mulling about it since then.

Why should Tea not be the national drink?

-Tea is not a natural crop of India
-Many a famine that occured during the 1700s till Independence may trace their origins to cultivating Tea and Indigo for importing while neglecting to grow food grains for the masses.
-Even now we continue using agricultural lands that can benefit the masses and growing Tea that continues to make the Estate owners rich

Why should milk not be the national drink? -
Common man and the masses cannot afford to drink milk!
-Sweets made with white refined Sugar and milk is the primary cause of Diabetes.
-And Amul wants to celebrate this?

Hence I request that we nominate the ever nourishing KANJI and celebrate the dish that nourishes all Indians - From the Prince of Mysore (who eats Ragi Modha) to the poorest of poor who sometimes barely manage a single meal!
-Kanji - A gruel made with different grains (sometimes with just one grain like Ragi or Millet).
-Kanji - That is fed to millions of infants and toddlers for good health and nutrition.
