Comments: With the growing number of residents in the Kanata North area and many of those residents having a dogs, I believe there is a strong need for this facility

Comments: The need for more off - leash dog parks is enormous. The well being of the people and dogs is contingent on the exercise, and socialization that a dog park offers. Please consider this request seriously. The folks that use these spaces are responsible pet owners, and in the case of Bruce Pit and Conroy Pit have formed associations and rules that govern behavoir and usage. The appreciation of your citizens would be gargantuan! Thank you Susan Galvin

Comments: The following suggestions are based on the dog park I have been using in the States. (Bags are also provided at regular intervals, but I don't expect Ottawa to do that!) I would like to see drums placed at regular intervals around the park so that dog owners do not need to carry the poo bag(s) all the time they are walking. This might help to encourage those who are inclined to be irresponsible about picking up, to do so. Another helpful thing - if there is a water source in the area - would be to have a tap, and a vessel of some kind, for the dogs. At the entrance there should be a box where people could leave plastic bags to be used by anyone who has fogotten to bring one.

Comments: This is a much needed area within the city. Two dog parks in the city is simply not enough for the population. Thank you for your consideration.

Comments: With all the green space in Ottawa, there should definitely be more places available for dogs and their owners to enjoy nature without the restrictions of being on a leash.

Comments: Being a dog owner in Kanata it would be nice to have a spot close to home to run the dog instead of having to drive to the arboretum

Comments: Bruce Pit is a great off leash park, but it is too heavily used and the atmosphere is becoming tense. Dogs need lots of space to run, and the park should be large enough to accomodate highly aggressive dogs who need more space.

Comments: I moved to Ottawa from Edmonton AB last year. the City of Edmonton has over 40 off-leash parks including two large ones in the North Saskatchwan River valley. As a similar sized city it is about time that Ottawa caught up and becomes a much more dog friendly city.

Comments: We think that the lease-free dog park is a great idea. Dogs are much more contented and sociable after they have a good run. It would be a place for owners to interact with with other pet owners to exchange ideas and suggestions.

Comments: I have moved over from the UK where we can let our dog run anywhere. I feel the dog laws are very restrictive over here. It would be wonderful to have an alternative choice to walk our dog as it is quite a drive to go to Bruce Pit and it is getting very busy. Surely for the amount of dog owners in the City of Ottawa there should be more areas that we can go and enjoy the countryside with our pets.

Comments: I believe that there should be more off leash parks within the City of Ottawa. The residents of Kanata should be able to take their dogs for exercise to an off leash park in their area. Their vote counts as well as other residents - dog owners in the city who are close to off leash parks.

Comments: I urge you to consider this application for a off leash park. As a regular dog walker at Bruce Pitt, I think that this is one of the best uses of public land that I know. Every Saturday, there are hundreds of people, young and old, who enjoy this great community resource. I know that people in Kanata and Stittsville areas would do the same.

Comments: Kanata has no parks/areas the permit off leash exercise/socialization. A safe dog is a well exercised, well socialized dog and dog-friendly parks are crucial in the training process. Dog owners, because of the daily exercise requirement for dogs, are out in the public every day and as such provide an effective and reliable element of safety in our communities. Their presence reduces the opportunity for criminal activiity and often avert mishaps.
