Name: Whitney Grove Woloschuk on Jan 7, 2013Comments: Regarding full day kindergarden in ward 8, JWPS has shown that it can cooperate internally, and accommodate future student capacity by making only a few changes to classroom use, and other room layouts. Please remove JWPS from any formal TDSB discussion.Flag

Name: Ian Pooles on Jan 7, 2013Comments: Our children deserve to be able to walk to school. It is one of the pleasures and rights of our kids who's parents bought in this neighborhood at great cost. Our kids need this and deserve this in our city. 4 blocks is walkable for our young kids and we must keep the borders as they are set now. We must protect our children's rights to a family friendly right of passage in their school years.Flag

Name: Elizabeth Isaacs on Jan 7, 2013Comments: I commend the volunteers and JWPS staff for looking for AND finding the capacity to be able to accomodate the additional students and not tear apart our tight-knit community. I would hope that the TDSB takes advantage of this opportunity, and leave JWPS to implement its solution.Flag

Name: Anne Greenwood on Jan 7, 2013Comments: I strongly urge that JWPS be removed from the Formal Discussions, given that the JWPS School Council, a Committee of the Council that studied physical space planning at the school, and the JWPS Principal - have all shown that JWPS can provide the required space to accommodate FDK and future student growth, without having to resort to consequences that might include: changing catchment boundaries (and having to send our children to other schools; bussing our children to schools other than JWPS; walking or driving much further to other schools; adding portables to our schoolyard; eliminating Child Care; changing the education path (which currently permits JWPS graduate students to attend Glenview and then Lawrence Park) so that our children will have to attend other grade 7-8 and grade 9-12 schools much further away; or eliminating other programs, services or grades.Flag

Name: Elizabeth Hunter on Jan 7, 2013Comments: We chose to live in this neighbourhood because of the fantastic community atmosphere, which is largely centred around John Wanless PS. This is an excellent school and we want our child and future children to attend. To change our school district will affect the education of my child, and my family's personal wealth through the value of our home. Please do not rezone our school district.Flag

Name: Ray Fischer on Jan 8, 2013Comments: In addition to what has already been said, a boundary change would have a material financial impact on EVERY homeowner whose home is moved out of the JWPS district - not just those homes with children. Why? Because, by removing a KEY reason for having bought the home originally (that is, to have access to JWPS), the homes would become LESS desirable. Less desirable = less valuable. Over the 100+ homes that would be affected, that would amount to a huge financial burden on EVERY affected homeowner.Flag

Name: Terry Hemingway on Jan 9, 2013Comments: It would be tragic to lose the neighbourhood spirit that could be destroyed if some children in the JWPS catchment area are forced to go to another school outside their community. All children have the right to attend a local school that they can walk to with their friends and other children. This is clearly beneficial to their sense of themselves and their "belonging" as well as their connection to, and sense of security in, their environment.Flag
