The Halifax Nova Scotia man accused of snipping off a kitten\'s testicles and part of its penis was arraigned in court yesterday on four charges of animal cruelty. Dennis Perreault was charged with two counts each of animal cruelty under the provincial Animal Cruelty Prevention Act and the Criminal Code. The 38-year-old from Herring Cove Road, Halifax Nova Scotia allegedly castrated a seven-week-old kitten with scissors and no anesthetic nearly a month ago. Perreault acquired the kitten and its feline sister after responding to a classified newspaper ad, offering free kittens. The kittens were seized after the SPCA received a complaint. There were 2 kittens, a male and female. The male kitten had allegedly been cruelly mutilated by Dennis Perrault when he attempted to \"neuter\" this tiny kitten with a pair of scissors and no anesthetic. He succeeded in removing the kittens teticles as well as most of his penis. The kitten was bloated with backed up urine, unable to urinate, and in a lot of pain. He was immediately taken to a vet and charges were laid. Emergency surgery initially saved the kitten\'s life, but four days after it was seized, the kitten succumbed to infection. He will be back in court to enter a plea Aug. 22. The maximum penalty for the summary offence would be six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. In our opinion this is not enough, but we are going to help do all we can to ensure that if he is convicted he DOES get the maximum he can get for this horrendous crime. This guy clearly has no respect for animals, and probably not much respect for life in any form. Please help us ensure that if this guy is found guilty he gets the maximum he can get for this God awful crime. Help us get justice for this innocent kitten who didn\'t deserve to have his life taken away before it hardly even began.
