| 2052 | Anonymous | Hate crimes are still visible in our society, and Jason is a visible victim. I support the efforts of Justice for Jason to bring light to this situation, and in their efforts to end hate crimes. |
| 2053 | Anonymous | This is an outrage! Self-defense is not a crime. |

| 2059 | Aliya Bonar | I am horrified and terrified by the knowledge that I am living in a world where this can happen. The court, jury, and other deciding parties MUST see the injustices in this situation and set it right. |

| 2066 | Charles Jenks | Looks like self-defense to me. Given that there was a huge disparity in force here - his being attacked by two men - his pulling a knife in defense would be considered valid virtually anywhere but Massachusetts. Whether this is racism or an example of Masssachusetts' extreme negative views on the right to self-defense, I do not know. It seems clear though that an injustice is being perpetrated by the state. |

| 2083 | Linda Olmeda | This is the real problem with the state officials in this country! Do they not know "that we too" deserve the right to protect ourselves... Isn't this America! The court system is always being questioned for the unfairness in criminal charges against us, but aren't the "WHITE" people the minorities NOW!
"""EQUALITY"""&""" FAIRNESS""""""will unite us all""" |

| 2088 | Nate Fanning | The current charges brought against Jason Vassell are a gross misinterpretation of "justice". Imagine if someone broke the window of your home, cursing you with racist slurs all the while, and then proceeded to walk in your front door. As a UMass student, our dorm halls are our homes. If Jason had not stood up to these racist thugs, there is no guarantee that these "men" would not have sought to vent their misguided hatred on others, including other UMass students. If Jason's charges are not dropped, they should be severely reduced. Conversely, Jonathan Bowes, a repeat offender, should be charged with Assault and Battery, as should Jonathan Bosse, his willing accomplice. Jason's case represents the flaws inherent in a "blind" justice system- thankfully, the UMass community is not blind, and will not let a case of self-defense ruin a bright young future. |

| 2096 | Alexandra | This is absolutely ridiculous. I am slightly skeptical about whether or not the whole story is being told, simply because it's so hard to believe that any judge in his right mind would charge him with what he did. |
