Preserve Fundamental Justice and Stop Unjust Extradition Proceedings Against Dr. Hassan Diab
Dr. Hassan Diab...
Is a much loved professor of sociology who lives in Ottawa, Canada. He is falsely accused involvement in a bombing that took place near a Paris synagogue in 1980. He is fighting extradition to France under a legal framework that is unjust and that allows the use of secret, unsourced intelligence and manifestly unreliable and discredited handwriting “evidence”.
We call upon the Canadian Minister of Justice to:
* Protect individuals in Canada from abusive extradition practice by upholding the Charter of Rights and Freedoms in extradition cases.
* Stop the use of secret intelligence of unknown, untestable reliability, and guarantee that extradition will not take place to a requesting state that uses secret, unsourced intelligence as trial evidence.
* Reform extradition law to take into account Canada’s human rights obligations, including the presumption of innocence and other due process rights.
* Preserve fundamental rights and the integrity of procedural justice to ensure that Dr. Diab receives fair and equal treatment before the law.
