Atlanta PD must mirror social and racial Justice among its rank to regain the trust and respect of its community. There cannot be true community policing and safety until this happens ! Name: Dondra Collins on Jun 7, 2006Comments: My name is Dondra Collins and I'm a junior at Northern Kentucky University. I received the email through BlackNews.com and after reading the email I was enraged and worried. I'm enraged because of the lack of justice and the obvious racism that has taken place! It disgust me how people with power, that are suppose to be advocates for justice and equality will not only sit back and allow this happen but actually perpetuate the problem! I'm worried because this continues to be a problem and yet no one has stepped up and held city officials or who ever accountable. It's sad to see that racism and the issue of white power is still here and actually seems to be growing. However people don't address the issues and even go as far to say that it doesn't exist. If we don't attack these situations and continue to allow our people to become victims of racism, and sexism, how do we expect our children to be treated fairly As a concerned college student for Terence Alexander and others that have fallen into hands of an unequal and pitiful justice system, I'm willing to do as much as I can to help! Although I'm in Kentucky, my peers and I are willing to take a stand and make a difference. I hope this email is helps out in any way and please keep me informed! Thank you and May GOD Bless us all!Flag

Name: Adrienne Johnson on Jun 7, 2006Comments: My name is Adrienne D. Johnson. Why is it that you consider yourself second class citizen Where is the justice for officer Alexander And how dare you give money to an individual that was disrespectful to an officer based on his skin color. Why do we have elected official of color if you are only a puppet I understand it must had been election year and you really need that White's vote. If officer Alexander did everything by the book then why is that a white officer can assault a black female without a cry or outrage from those that serves the black communities. I tell you the reason because you are so condition to be house nigger that it hard to change your ways. Is my life as an African-American women in America worth less than a white female Then ask yourself Mayor is your life worth less than a white female because that the message you send when you sit and watch from your window. Are we still fighting for our civil rights in AmericaFlag

Officer Alexander is a man and he is a model person for the way he is handling this situation, with a pen. You are in my family prayers Officer Alexander. Thank you.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jun 8, 2006Comments: I cannot believe the corruption and the racism in Atlanta. I would say that the officer's actions were justifiable and his superiors were in the wrong and conducted criminal actions. What kind of leaders do you have running this city It's a shame! I honestly do not think that I will move to Atlanta and I will encourage my friends and family to do the same due to the racism and corruption that still exist. I urge you to stand up and represent the good in Atlanta, help erase racism, weed out those unlawful supervisors, and bring the city of Atlanta to a higher standard of living. Raise the bar!Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jun 8, 2006Comments: I was absolutely floored when I realized the racial injustices that were incurred by Officer Alexander. The citizens of Atlanta have clearly been left out in the dark regarding the details and inaccuracies that were not reported regarding this incident. Clearly, Diana Deitrich Barnes has connections. Aren't police officers trained to place their knee in the back of the person being arrested anyway I will make sure that others know about this.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jun 12, 2006Comments: I implore the Atlanta City Government to reinstate Office Alexander immediately. He should never have been fired in the first place. This case is riddled with activity that transgresses moral and civil law while the Mayor and the Chief of Police have chosen to dismiss these wrongdoings. Misconduct committed by the Lieutenants and Sergeant should not have been overlooked and should not go unpunished. The injuries that Officer Alexander suffered as a result of this noncompliant individual should be taken care of by the city. Last but not least, Mrs. Barnes should be prosecuted for striking an officer to the fullest extent that the law allows. I have seen such a wonderful campaign inviting the world to come to Atlanta and experience the opportunities that the city has to offer. The way the police force and the city treated this officer certainly puts a sour taste in my mouth. It makes me think that Atlanta is not a place where opportunity and fairness prevails. Please take these remarks into consideration and do what should have been done in the first place. It is okay to apologize and correct actions that were executed in error. I recently saw that there was a substantial shortage of officers on the Atlanta police force. It may be because of the way that Officer Alexander was treated and the lack of support given to the officers when citizens are noncompliant. If officers are dishonored by their own in this manner, who would want to work as an officer for the city of Atlanta All of the facts and on goings of this case should be reviewed and reconsidered with an open, fair and balanced judgment. I think if this was done initially Officer Alexander would still be employed and Mrs. Barnes would be charged with the crimes that she actually committed.Flag

That is what is wrong with the world now, no one wants to speaks up for anyone. The mayor knows that this shit ain't right. Wake and do your damn job and give this man back his job because he deserves his job back and more. You took this man name and embrassed your city with your lack of heart. What goes around comes around and God don't like ugly.Flag

Then tell me this blonde ambitions, why is it taking so long for this young officer to get his job back because if what he is saying is true then why are you so against doing the right thing. Name: Anonymous on Jun 14, 2006Comments: I have read about the things that have happened to Officer Alexander at the hands of corrupt cops and the police chief of Atlanta. I can't help but wonder how I would feel compelled to step up and speak out if this happened to me or my brother or my father or my uncle. If they will treat an officer this way, imagine what they do/will do to ordinary citizens. This does not say much for the city of Atlanta. I hope they do what is right.Flag

Name: R.J. Howard on Jun 17, 2006Comments: I thought that things had gotten better as far as things that I have read in my history books about the south and its racial bigotry, but this situation with Terrence Alexander proves that it hasn't. I was very shocked when I heard of the incident because I was looking for his fellow officers to stand behind him 100% as in my opinion, Officer Alexander upheld the law. This ends my desire to travel back to Atlanta and this sounds like a black and white issue and I would not want to go there.Flag

Name: Erica Sullivan on Jun 20, 2006Comments: I recently received the story from a friend via email and I was so upset and scared. I cannot believe that this course of action would take place in this day and age. I guess people don't change. They may change what they wear but not their hearts and minds (think about that). I believe that before we put people into office we should do a public psychology test as a lot of us before we get jobs have to. Joe Citizen would not have a problem with a psychology test so why should elected officials as we entrust our lives, property, tax dollars to these people. This makes me scared to move to your city and I heard Atlanta was the happening place for blacks but maybe not.Flag
