Joshua Cohen achieved GCSE marks of 2A* and 2A\'s this summer, below the 6A\'s required by the school for a guaranteed place. However, there are students who haven\'t achieved the minimum 6A\'s but have been given a place at sixth form this September. Whilst we all acknowledge Josh hasn\'t achieved the minimum requirement, we feel this is also a special circumstance. Josh\'s attitude has improved greatly since the January mocks in an attempt to achieve the desired minimum requirement. His effort levels have also noticeably improved. Josh also offers more than good grades to the school. A popular member of the year, Josh has many friends and brings a unique personality to the year. He has played a major part in the making of the \'Yearbook DVD\', utilising one of his main academic strengts in creating a quality collage of clips with fellow students. His presence will be surely missed by all at Latymer that know him, both staff and students. We feel Josh has been unfairly treated as he has shown a great improvement in attitude and has achieved A*\'s in the subjects he wishes to continue into sixth form, surpassing the school\'s requirement of students achieving A\'s in subjects they wish to continue at A Level. Therefore, we cannot understand why Josh hasn\'t been offered a place in sixth form whilst others with either 4 or 5 A-A*\'s have. Josh has had no major disciplinary problems and in no way creates or adds to any bad behaviour.

Paul Holloway, United Kingdom8 years ago Comments: As the brother of one of Josh Cohen's best friends at Latymer, i have got to know Josh very well over the last 5 years or so. From my time with Josh i can see he is a kind, bright boy. Despite Josh being immature at times during his spell at Latymer, he has never commited any major offences, causing the school to wish he was educated elsewhere. Josh's GCSE results were exceptional and had he got a few more marks he would have been let back into the shcool straight away. If you compare Josh's GCSE resutls to his mock results you can see just how much staying at Latymer means to him and the effort he has put in throughout the last 6 months. Not only this, but Josh achieved fantastic grades in the subjects he wishes to pursue into the 6th form, and therefore you can see that by letting Josh stay, he will achieve good A-level results that will only enhance the reputation of the Latymer school. I urge you to reconsider this horribly harsh decision and allow Josh to fulfill his incredible potential in his chosen subjects.
