This is a petition for Lexington Mayor Jim Gray to officially name March 1st 2011 "Jorts Day" in the city of Lexington, Kentucky to honor Josh "Jorts" Harrellson's final home basketball game as a University of Kentucky Wildcat.
The University of Kentucky campus has already taken steps to make March 1st a special day including encouraging everyone to wear denim on the 1st and local stores have even set up a count down sign outside of their shop that says "## until Jorts Day." Now we are asking Mayor Gray to make the day official.
Harrellson is beloved throughout the city and across the commonwealth for his on-the-court play and his off-the-court character. The nickname was given by Kentucky Sports Radio when Harrellson made his recruiting visit to UK and wore a pair of jean shorts. From that moment on he was forever known as Jorts!
