I've known John Quidilla for about 3-4 years and I know John Quidilla is a great person who always care about his families and friends. He never committed any crime or did any illegal action. Name: Tanin Nazmul on May 20, 2012Comments: I came to know John in the 10th grade, and as long as I have known him, he has been one of the sincerest, most generous people I have ever met. I bore witness to many of his boundless favors. He would regularly give his friends and family rides and lend his emotional support to anyone who needed it, and not once did I ever hear him mutter a negative word about anyone. When I was experiencing intense stomach pains at school once, he came to console me and give me encouragement when others laughed and thought I had a weak conscience. When my father was fighting for his life in the hospital, John was one of the few people that actually gave me positive words and inspired me to take ownership of a chaotic situation. He was very involved in sports, visual arts, and his local community, while always being a "go-to-guy" whenever anyone needed help, and despite his many talents and his superior perceptiveness of people, he always displayed humility. After the passing of his father a few years back, John, without reservation, assumed his role as paternal figure for his family, working to bring in whatever wages he could, helping his mother take care of the children, and fighting to attain his education first at Collin College and then at UT Dallas, once he earned the right to attend through his hard work. And all through this, not once did he complain to us about his unfortunate situation, living in a cramped townhouse with many siblings, regularly running countless errands in a dilapidated 20-year-old Honda, and working odd hours at a drink shop to support himself without interfering with his class schedule. If the heart that this young man displays every single day of his life does not represent true American Spirit, then I don't know what does. There are few individuals, let alone natural-born American Citizens, who possess even half the character that John does. Even if I could physically overcome all the struggles he has, I do not know that I could maintain such humility and resist arrogance towards other people. John Quidilla is a role-model for not just struggling young people but all young people who not only want to build a resume for their careers but also desire to build character for their lives. I solemnly hope that the person who makes the decision on John’s fate takes the time to consider the exceptional man that he is. No matter where John is five years from now, I know for sure that he will rise up to the challenges he is presented. But if that place is anywhere outside of the United States of America, surely we will all collectively mourn the loss of a true American and a great friend. Please do not be the person that deprives our nation of such a great person. Thank you for taking the time to consider my petition.Flag
